BEAU'S JOURNEY

Beau grasped at an early age the satisfaction one can experience with a healthy relationship to utilizing money as a tool.  He worked at a Fortune 500 company for fifteen years before transitioning into his vocation as an independent financial advisor, now 20 years ago. He had been investing and saving money personally for decades and decided to turn his intuitive monetary understanding into a career, guiding clients to pursue their ideal financial landscape. At age 37 Beau knew it was his life’s calling to help people transform the cycle of negativity surrounding one of our most valuable tools; money. Because of his wise yet playful investment with his personal earnings, Beau’s was empowered to go to school, travel the world, work for a major company, and later, work for himself. Seeing someone walk and work their fiscal path with such enthusiasm, you can’t help but be inspired to start saving and investing for yourself. Let Beau show you how.

Beau is from Memphis Tennessee, where he learned about money at the early age of 10 from his grandmother, May Samuels.  She taught him; always pay yourself first, then the baker, then the candlestick maker. The light bulb went off in his head, and  freshly inspired, Beau began selling ice cream at the Memphis Fair and just like that- grew his personal savings from scratch. Growing up in a family of 5, Beau knew to value what he had by not taking things for granted, to be resourceful, and how vital it is that finances are in order. The work resonated, and he easily understood how fulfilling it could be to earn a salary. Beau worked graveyard shifts at the local grocery store all through high school on weekends to buy a car (Mercury Cougar)and pay for a trip European trip at 18 years old. Because of his healthy relationship to money, he felt free to move about the world exploring and pursuing his dreams.

At 18, Beau moved to Los Angeles with stars in his eyes and was very fortunate to live with a family friend who was an actor “Red" West (a close friend of Elvis Presley who was in 16 Elvis films!) Beau was privy to interactions with folks like Rock Hudson, Robert Conrad and John Ashley.

After soaking up the Hollywood culture and landing several gigs as a background actor, he went to Sonoma State University College and graduated majoring (of course) in business. To finance his college track, Beau worked food service at the dorms in SSU in exchange for room and board, and took a second job as a refreshment distributor to earn extra money for fun. His balance of work and play warranted the freedom necessary to find his place in the world.

After college, Beau landed a job with a major company pioneering the electronic score boards in the PRCA Rodeo circuit. He immersed himself in the work and toured nonstop for the next six years. On long drives across the country, Beau discovered Joseph Cambell’s book on cassette “The Power of Myth,”which spoke to a deeper, unexplored part of him, touching on themes like follow your bliss and the hero’s journey. Since he reached his prior financial goal, he wondered what else was out there? What else could be fulfilling in a new, different way? The Power of Myth galvanized his next plan; to traverse sacred spaces he was now curious about, like Machu Picchu, Egypt, and his ancestor’s native Ireland. It was on Beau’s first trip to Peru, atop Machu Picchu that he experienced an epiphany. He knew it was time to leave the company and put his energy into something more grassroots, somewhere he could help people one on one. After guiding group tours in the Sacred Valley and traversing down the Nile in Egypt, Beau returned and got to work following his calling to work for himself in a new way.

Beau and his wife, Jody have made their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This year they celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary and Beau's 20th work anniversary as a financial advisor.
